Garvey was a self-serving profiteer pandering to Black nationalism to garner support. He owned a piece of the steamship company that would have transported his followers back to Africa. He had no working class anti-racist line. He was a vent for legitimate anti-racist anger of the masses , but he only served the interest of the capitalist class. He never fueled class struggle by the Black masses.
Whayt does that music link have to do with a revolutionary anti-racist political line??? Garvey was a bourgeois nationalist who sought his own empire. He did not lead struggle against the capitalist class. He sought with a lot of publicity from the mainstream capitalist owned media to lead the Black masses away from the attraction of communism toward a dead end movement of returning to Africa. Clearly an opportunist charlatan in my estimation.
